Solid State Optronics

Solid State Optronics (SSO) was founded in 1982 in San Jose, California, the Capital of Silicon Valley. Driven by a passion for technology and the singular goal of creating innovative products for a developing and underserved market, SSO was an industry pioneer in the design and manufacture of miniature Solid State Relays (SSRs).

While SSO’s innovations in Solid State Relays continue unabated, SSO have also expanded their product offering to over 200 devices, including many other optically isolated switching devices, such as Optocouplers – Phototransistor Output, Linear and High Speed Analog & Digital, MOSFET Driver, IGBT Drivers, TRIAC Drivers, Specialty, custom products and Hi-Temp/Hi-Rel devices.

MOSFET Output Solid State Relays

MOSFET Output Solid State Relays (SSRs) are the most reliable and technically advanced logic-to-power interface devices available. Their basic function is to take a low current signal from a microprocessor to control the switching of both AC and DC loads, while providing an isolation barrier between logic and power. SSO’s MOSFET Output SSRs have optical input to output isolation of up to 3,750V, low drive current with options as low as 1mA, and a wide variety of available outputs from 60V to 600V, 100mA to 1.5A.

AC Output Solid State Relays

AC Output Solid State Relays (SSRs) provide an optically-isolated means of switching AC Loads. SSO’s AC Output SSRs come in a variety of packages and output types (6 and 16 pin DIP, and 4 pin SIP) with blocking voltage up to 800V, and load currents up to 1.2A and more.

Optocouplers

Optocouplers provide a means of optically-isolated signal coupling. SSO’s Optocouplers allows flexibility where completely electronically isolated devices can be coupled discretely to a wide range of load handling components. SSO provides Transistor Output, High Speed, Linear, and Schmitt-Trigger Optocouplers.

TRIAC Drivers

Also known as Phototriac Couplers, TRIAC Drivers are a specific type of optocoupler that is used exclusively to provide an optically-isolated gate drive current to a TRIAC. SSO’s TRIAC Drivers has features such as high input to output potential isolation of 2.5 to 5kVrms, and low input control current as low as 2.5mA.

Photovoltaic MOSFET Drivers

Utilising SSO’s Photovoltaic MOSFET Drivers simplifies circuit designs through reduced drive circuit complexity, cost and board space. SSO MOSFET Drivers are offered in 4 pin SOP, 6 pin DIP/SMD and 8 pin DIP/SMD packages. It also features high input to output potential isolation of up to 5kVrms.

IGBT Drivers

SSO's offering of Optically-Isolated IGBT Drivers provides high level of input to output isolation (5kVrms) between low voltage control circuits (such as microcontrollers) and the high voltage circuits of IGBTs and Power MOSFETs.
